What about You?
A Kindred Story by Erica Campbell
The Kindred.Social…at the time we had no clue that our monthly meetups would become something so beautiful. At first, some of us didn’t even know one another. We were just eight girls immersed in life and ministry. But, over the course of a year, we came to draw hope and encouragement from one another as God worked to refresh our hearts through these “Monthly Girl’s Meetups.” Though located all over the country from Florida and Georgia, to Virginia and Oklahoma, we found common ground in our faith and passion to serve the Kingdom.
For me personally, the time we took sharing our lives, our struggles, and our dreams for the future with one another became much more than just eight girls getting together to chat. Very quickly, these ladies became more than just acquaintances—they became family, and our single night a month together became sacred. These girls loved me, prayed for me, and encouraged me more than I think they realize. During our calls we would discuss the various life-giving resources influencing us at the time—select Scriptures, books, podcasts, and music—as well as the ways we were hearing the Holy Spirit speak to us individually. I can’t tell you how much just hearing these ladies share impacted my personal walk with Jesus. In the days and weeks that followed I would find myself going deeper into God’s word, buying a new book from amazon, or looking up a new podcast or song that these precious, new-found friends of mine had suggested. In our community, we offered each other a safe space to learn and grow. Ultimately, we found hope and courage in kindred hearts!
So, what about you? Maybe now you’re thinking about leading a meet-up. Here’s my encouragement: do it! Look for 6-8 girls you feel would benefit from The Kindred.Social the way I did. It doesn’t have to be complicated—simply do life together with these girls. We all need honest, refreshing, safe community. With the Kindred.Social, you have a platform to cultivate just that: an honest, refreshing, safe place for girls and women who, more than you might realize, are probably looking for the same thing you are.
Or, maybe you would just like to be a part of group. Again, I say go for it! I’m incredibly grateful for Kaleigh who had a vision to bring us all together, and I can’t thank her enough for the beautiful community she created with my meetup.
Final thought: be committed, be yourself, and allow God to use the Kindred.Social to inspire, equip, and encourage you!
